Growth Mindset
The idea of growth mindset is that intelligence can be developed and see effort as a path to succeed. This idea has contributed to many people’s patterns to success. A professor of psychology at Stanford University, Carol Dweck, researched why people succeed and worked on the mindset psychologist traits. As stated in the article of Stanford University, a psychologist at Stanford , Marina Krakovsky, illustrates this point when she insists, “ The mastery-oriented children are really hell-bent on learning something,” learning goals inspire a different chain of thoughts and behavior than “ performance goals.” Findings from Dweck has supported the idea of growth mindset and the master-oriented patterns. This helped idea contributed to people like celebrities to achieve their goals to succeed in life. Therefore, the patterns and the contributions to our society are important because people tend to get discourage when making failures in areas that they’re capable in and if they work hard to improve their talents, they could reach even higher levels of achievements.
Our artifact is about a turtle and a hare competing in a race. This artifact looks like the hare is the fastest but does not try and the turtle is working hard to achieve their goal. The turtle is not stopping because he has a growth mindset and the hare is has a fixed mindset. This artifact connects with my icon and imperative because this contributed to people who put more effort and embrace challenges can improve their talents. People who are successful in their careers have patterns to succeed like learning from criticism and not giving up easily after failures.
Reflection
David Arellano Ms. Park period ½ August 25, 2017 Reflection There are many things I could change or do better for my next class presentation or presentation in general. I need to practice my presentation to not get nervous with like my dog or my parents or my siblings or friends, or by myself. I learned a lot about presenting and for future presentations I know what is correct and what is the incorrect way to write the paragraphs and present. I did lots of research but couldn't come through on the presentation my mind blanked and I forgot what I was going to say. I learned a lot about critical thinking and being collaborative with others in this project especially from my teachers Mrs. Barrett, and Ms. Romeo helping me do gate symposium and other projects in between.
One fact about The Crucible is that it took place in 1692 during the Salem witch trials. And it hid many secrets and hidden symbolism.
While reading the Crucible I felt overwhelmed with everything going on there was a wide range of mixed emotions.
A new Idea I learned during the Crucible is false confessions was a big part because peoples reputations mattered very much but false confessions are even a big part of today.
A personal decision that I will make based on my reading is that I like the Crucible I think it was very good and especially for it's time I bet the play is great it had great characters and story. If I was rotten tomatoes I would give it a 83%.
How are you doing in terms of reaching your academic goals? In terms of my academic goals I believe I'm underachieving and I could do better and would hope to do better by the end of the semester and have no C's only A's/B's.
How are you doing on reading more books? I am not doing great in reading books since the year started I have only read like 1 book and the one that I use for my reading log
How are you doing participating in class? I am not participating in class as much as I want to just because I get nervous or scared that I would answer incorrectly but hopefully I overcome that fear soon
What are some strengths and weaknesses you see in yourself in this class? Some weaknesses are I get scared to speak up, I don't understand something because I usually talk or mess around but these are all things I would like to change. Some Strengths are I usually understand the content you give us and don't really act out I just talk.
What is easy/challenging? Nothing is easy in this class aside from classwork that you explain to us or The Crucible reading that's not much. Difficult things consist of everything that wasn't easy so like WpW, The Crucible related assignments, essays etc..
What do you want to work on this month? I want to participate more and keep my grades balanced for all my classes.
Positive and negative impacts and contributions of freedom are you have the right to speak out and luckily we are a big 1st world country with many benefits and superior advantage over many other countries, for example we can speak out about mostly anything as long as it does not harm anybody or break law. Cost and benefits of freedom are balanced because for every bad thing there is usually a good thing or multiple good things that come along with it. Conflict and freedom interrelate because we can speak out about one thing but that does not mean everybody agrees people could debate about it and it could cause conflict. They aren't true opposites for that they would have to believe the complete opposite of people conflict does not mean true opposites. There could be but usually isn't a paradoxical relationship between conflicts. for example is players kneeling during sports events to represent their freedom and speak out as I said they are allowed to but it isn't recommended to the extent where some coaches will fire their players if they kneel.
